Djuri
Djuri are herd animals that the colonists treasure for the taste of their meat. They are small for Fremont animals, which means they are slightly shorter than humans. They have horns, and long legs, and sharp hooves. They are pure prey though – safety exists in numbers, in hiding, and in luck.
Normally fairly shy, they can be difficult to find.
The djuri’s most favored habitat is the strip of land where forest and meadow meet, where they can graze in underbrush inside of the edge of the forest, safe from most predators. Their most common enemies are paw cats, demon dogs, and for those anywhere near Artistos, humans.
