Kayleen, Liam, and Chelo make this their home on Islandia. The central feature is that West Home is hidden, entirely, from below or above. West Home lives between the pile of stones at the very head of Golden Cat Valley and the actual cliffs that start the wind up into the volcanic mountains known as Islandia’s Teeth. It includes a hidden waterfall with a lake big enough to swim in, a flat grazing valley, a small bit of forest sparse enough that predators cannot hide there easily, and a path up behind it that leads to a hidden escape from the valley.

Chelo believes it is the most beautiful place in the universe.

Foral University is the biggest landmark Foral Island on Silver’s Home. It is a training ground for Wind Readers. The buildings are predominantly iron-red and deep green, with the varied architecture found in most universities. Round and tall and sometimes blocky, the campus is both the tallest and widest thing in town, and most the town life revolves around it. Because it is training Wind Readers, it is sometimes home to odd experiments and beings. It is also possible to see the wind burned there, as a small part of the campus is given over to trying to rehabilitate those that the gift of Reading the Wind has damaged.

The Academy is pleased to announce that Reading the Wind is out in paperback. In honor of its release, we have posted a new story in the library.

The new story is a bit that happens offstage to the action in the book, and is the first part of the overall story that has been narrated by Bryan. Well, actually, Chelo told it to us, but she swears she had it through Bryan. The story relates what happens to Bryan as he walks down the Street of All Designs, which is a true historical place that existed on Silver’s Home. In fact, places much like it still exist today.
